Behind the Game
Overkill Maximum is one of my most ambitious projects to date. The board game takes players on a conquest for power and resources against other factions while gaining a foothold on planets. My team and I plan to build the game to an officially licensed game that has its own assets, ideas, and product line. The first line of the project was to create 3 separate products that all related to one theme. In the block set of Interstellar Combat, there are three main products:
- Master Set 1: Invasion of Jaxis 9. This set includes all the vital pieces to play the game with up to 6 players!
- Faction Expansion 1: Resurgence. This expansion will bring a new faction into the war that has a unique playstyle unlike other factions currently in the game.
- Paradox Expansion 1: Primordial Warfare. The mini expansion includes an all brand new Uber Garrison Unit that allows you decimate the battlefield with ease. Along with the mech suit, there are 29 new Paradox cards that can make or break any combat scenario.
Expanding Master Set 1: Invasion of Jaxis 9
The second half of this project explores the maximalist style of approach. To better understand the contents of the game, what better way to show that than the most important product for Overkill Maximum? In Master Set 1: Invasion of Jaxis 9, there is a plethora of items that are the basis the game. The most important items like, game components, rule guide, and the physical board pieces are just a few to name. The box design was changed from a perfect square to more of a rectangle shape to better fit all the pieces but also decrease the size of the box overall. Uniformly, each faction displays a unique color and style that makes them feel more consistent and a part of the ever growing universe and lore of the game. Below is the process and reasoning to why the products have the appearance that they currently have in the alpha build.
